Hi Councillors,

I have seen your survey and some of you do not know what EAPL is all about. Well here is your chance to know what it is!

E – Email

We have now created a new email account for you to give any time feedbacks or even to get yourself updated. This would help us to reduce the number of councillors not getting updated by the executive committee. This email system allows everyone to have an equal right of giving feedbacks to the executive committee members. You may wish to contact us with our email address – smbcouncil@live.com.sg

A – Attendance & P – Points

We have started this new system of calculating your attendance to make sure that everyone is coming to meetings and duties. Councillors who fail to get more than 75% of attendance for duties and meeting will get their points deducted. The councillors who get less than 3 points by the end of the year, you will be under probation.

L – Leadership

Well here’s your good news, Councillors who have attended programmes such as Canberra Primary School Leadershape Programme, Batam, OBS, Secondary One Orientation Programme and other camps which is under the student council, now you may retrieve one point for each of your programme attended.

We hope that this post on the EAPL would have helped you to understand the purpose of having this system in the council. We hope that every single one of our councillors give their full cooperation and support to the executive committee members.

Finally the executive committee would like to wish you all, HAPPY JUNE HOLIDAYS, have fun but do not forget to do your revision and homework. All the Best Councillors!

Hey councillors,hows your holiday? Great? Fun? You still have 4 more weeks to school reopen yeah :) BUT, dont forget to do your homeworks! haha. ok, i heard some councillors saying why is there no pictures post on blog. So to keep the blog alive, i shall post some pictures on the Batam's debrief on Wednesday.

And all CPS leaders please take note, you have to be in school tomorrow at 10am.

Hi councillors, please kindly take note that our next meeting is on the 31th of July 2009 (Friday) at 3pm. The meeting will end at 4.30 - 5pm. And i hope to see everyone attending the meeting, as the executive committee has already hold it once a month already.

Hi guys,

I've just came by to post on the council investiture pics that we took at the end of the programme!

The duties will be continued as usual for the next few weeks but you will be dismissed earlier from your duties.

Note for the lower secondary councillors: For your recess canteen duty, you just have to send the students up to the hall from now on till the exams are over, and there will be no corridor duties for the following 2 weeks after this week. Please be notified that you would have to go back to the hall after your recess duties. No one is allowed to be at the canteen even after their respective duties.

Hey councillors of sembawang! (: I'm not an avid blogger and this might be long compared to the other blog posts BUT do stay and read(to those who are already thinking of exiting this page ;)).

In just a few more hours, we Sec 4s would have already stepped down from the councillor board as most people would put it. This would be the end of a chapter of being a councillor in Sembawang Secondary School. Whether its good or bad, it depends solely on the individual. Adding on, i, myself feel really honoured that I'm in this council board and i feel you SMB councillors should feel the same too. (: Even though you might think that doing duties is boring and wearing a tie is hot and stuffy, think about those other normal students who don't have the chance to even scream at those people strolling in to school through the backgate, let alone locking the gates. Its a privilege to do flag-raising and even class dismissal. Not many people or even teachers do that. So be proud and not think: "Argh, its duty time." Of course i display displeasure to those who don't even come for duty and would escape it if there's a chance.

You may also think that councillor is just another 'job' to do. However, think about it. Wouldn't your life be so boring just studying, chit-chatting or playing cyber games? Friends may say: "Councillor ah? No big deal." This is very wrong. Being a councillor is a big deal. Not any Tom, Dick or Harry can be a leader. And that's why we say "Leaders are made, not born."

By remembering back the old days, I remember the fun we had during those expeditions, camps and programmes. Working together. Laughing together. and even get scolded together. (: I could still remember the Batam trip. The night walk, the tent and even how councillors helped each other out. It was really a happy sight to see people working together, away from their usual circle of friends. My group, group 5 was a particularly hilarious group. (; I really missed those good, fun-packed days overseas. (:

Furthermore, I would like to express my feelings on how proud i am to be in the councillor board. Everywhere i go, i see councillors. I see councillors in different CCAs, different kinds of events doing different stuffs. I see my own councillors dancing in malay dance, playing instruments for band, commanding for the uniform groups and being competitive in sports. (: Isn't it great that our councillors do make a impact in different aspects if the school? (: I feel its awesome-istic! :D

In conclusion, there would be different people taking over different roles in the councillor board. Your friends might hold a post higher than you. You might think that he/she is bossy or whatever. Even though its hard to let councillor matters remain as councillor matters, we have to try. People have differences. There is bound to be backstabs and rumors but its how you mange it that counts. I know people can't stop from gossiping about this or about. Personally, i like to see the councillor board as an entire family rather than a place to compete for the highest post or to be catagorised under groups, whether good or bad. To think about it, not even the best councillor can work alone. He/she definitely needs the help of his/her fellow councillor and also the support of the entire councillor board.

To end this, I would like to say that each and everyone of you is important. No matter what role you play. No matter how much you contribute, you are sheltered and is under this big family tree: "The Councillor Board family".

And this is what i like to share to every councillor. I really wish from the bottom of my heart all the best to all my fellow councillors as I'm stepping down tomorrow. And also, sorry for not being there enough for the councillor board. I think i have neglected you all because i feel that i have the responsibility for each of you even if i don't usually talk to you.
